For those of you who aren't familiar with the game, Kid Icarus Uprising is an RPG shooter with about five million ties to Greek mythology. The protagonist, Pit, sets off on a quest to rid the world of the Underworld Army. Now, for those of you who have played the game, you might remember the first boss, Twinbellows. He looks a little something like this:
"So, a multi-headed dog, huh? There's only one monster that fits the description: the three headed guard of the Underworld; the Cerberus." Hate to burst your bubble, but as you probably guessed from the title, that's incorrect.
The Cerberus was one of many creatures born from the monsters Typhon and Echidna. Among the Cerberus were the Chimaera, Nemean Lion, Hydra, Gorgon (Medusa's race), etc. There was also said to be a two-headed hellhound in the mix. But the number of heads isn't the only difference between the two dogs. Hellhounds in mythology, like the Cerberus, were known to guard areas that held the dead, but what makes them so different is the fact that many of them were said to have fire-based abilities and incredible strength and speed.
So Twinbellows is not the Cerberus, but rather it's sibling. And since Twinbellows is one of Medusa's minions in the game instead of Hades', then it actually makes perfect sense!!!!!!
